American Airlines Touches Down

American Airlines Touches Down

In 1930 American Airlines first took to the skies. Now 85 years later, in June 2016 they’ll finally be touching down in New Zealand.

Boasting the world’s largest fleet the introduction of the carrier to Auckland International Airport is great news for travellers to America. Not only will it provide another option for Auckland to LA travel and vice versa but you can rest assured there’s likely to be some heavily discounted fares on offer as competition for bookings heats up.

Around 140,000 Kiwis travel to the US for a holiday each year. With American Airlines now catering for these passengers too, that number is likely to grow exponentially. Possibly by about 15%, as capacity increases and airfare prices fall to accommodate.

Until now our national carrier Air New Zealand has had the monopoly on this route into the lucrative American Market, so competition will lead to some healthy and robust airfares on offer. Great news for that planned family holiday or those who travel for business to the States.

So if you’ve ever thought about heading to Hollywood to meet the stars, catching an NBA game, seeing a world class show or immersing yourself in the place that’s known as the City of Angels, then your prayers have been answered. Because come June next year you’ll be able to that trip with the best fare possible.

Mixandmatch will keep you posted on these new fares as they become available.
