The world’s longest flight is coming to Auckland and making that trip to Europe that extra bit quicker and easier.
A new daily service from Auckland to Doha, Qatar’s capital city, is set to begin on December 3, 2016, utilising the Boeing 777 aircraft. It will be Qatar Airways’ first route to New Zealand. Skytrax, the Oscars of the aviation industry, ranked Qatar Airways as the best airline in the world in its 2015 World's Top 100 Airlines list.
The announcement comes hot on the heels of Emirates starting its record breaking non-stop service from Auckland to Dubai. Qatar Airways is set to pip it by 200km, when it starts travelling the 14,539km between the Auckland and Doha.
On the 9th of March Qatar Airways announced the Auckland to Doha route in its presentation of 14 new destinations on the opening day of ITB Berlin, the world’s largest international travel fair. Other new Qatar Airways destinations included Adelaide, Los Angeles, Boston, and Birmingham in the UK.
