Coronavirus travel advisory.

Following the Government announcement regarding Covid-19 related travel restrictions on 14 March we are currently experiencing very high levels of enquiry. This means we are currently needing to prioritise enquiries from customers whose travel was planned for the next 48 hours.

However, we are very conscious that this is an upsetting and concerning time for our customers and understand you would like to clarify what this may mean for you and your plans as soon as possible.

• If your planned travel is within the next 48 hours, then please call us on 0800 367 468 or email help@mixandmatch.co.nz. Please note that we are experiencing a higher than normal volume of calls at the moment.

• If your planned travel dates are not in the next 48 hours but within the next 7 days, then please call or email us. We will respond as soon as possible to your enquiry, you should expect a response within the next business day of the enquiry being sent.

• If your planned travel dates are more than 7 days away, please email us. We will endeavour to respond to your enquiry within 48 hours of the enquiry being sent.

Quarantine for all arrivals into New Zealand
As of midnight 15 March 2020 everyone returning to New Zealand must self-quarantine for 14 days after arriving from any international destination, excluding the Pacific Islands.

The quarantine rules are in place for 16 days, when they will then be reviewed.

If you would like information on what is expected as a traveller being required to self-isolate please click here for advice from the Ministry of Health.

For travel advisories issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade please check their website: www.safetravel.govt.nz.
We are working closely with our suppliers, including airlines and insurance, to get the best possible outcomes for our customers and will update you on this as we progress.

Travel insurance
If you have a Mix & Match insurance policy with Allianz, then please be aware that:

- Allianz will continue to accept claims for medical only costs in the event that you contract Covid-19 whilst travelling overseas. This cover will not change for existing policy holders.

- It is unlikely that Allianz will look favourably on any claims that are submitted for Covid-19 related cancellation costs, amendments fees or additional costs.

- Despite the New Zealand government advising against non-essential travel, Allianz will continue to provide cover to customers travelling, as per the current terms and conditions of your policy. China and Iran are excluded from this as the New Zealand government has a “Do not travel” warning to these destinations (correct as of 16 March 2020).

We apologise for any delays experienced during this time, it may take a little longer than normal but we are here to support you all through these challenging circumstances.

Travel Restrictions
Please be aware that travel restrictions may be in place due to COVID-19 if you have travelled to certain countries within the last 14 days. The latest on these restrictions can be viewed here.

For travel to (mainland) China and South Korea.
We follow the travel advisories issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade which are published on their website: www.safetravel.govt.nz . Currently there is a travel advisory of ‘do not travel’ for mainland China and ‘avoid non-essential travel’ for the cities of Daegu and Cheongdo in South Korea, and for Iran due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus and the associated health risks and travel restrictions".

As a result, Mix & Match has temporarily removed mainland China as a destination to book online. Flights to and from New Zealand and Hong Kong are currently not affected by this change and are still available to book online. For any enquiries please call us on 0800 367 468.

For health information, travellers are recommended to read the information provided on the New Zealand Ministry of Health website. Full travel advice on SafeTravel can also be found here. Further information is available on the websites of WHO and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

eGates.
Please note that New Zealand Customs has closed eGates for all passengers entering New Zealand including New Zealand residents and citizens as well as non-New Zealand residents. This may cause delays at those airports that use eGate technology. Further information can be found on the New Zealand Customs Service website.

For travel to Samoa.
The Samoan Ministry of Health has introduced new border requirements in relation to Novel coronavirus 2019-nCov.

If you are travelling to Samoa via Auckland from a country with a confirmed case of Novel coronavirus 2019-nCoV, there may be additional medical clearance requirements in place. We recommend you continue to check the Samoan Ministry of Health website for the latest information as it evolves.

Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Travel Insurance Advisory
The World Health Organisation recognises Covid-19 as a pandemic. Following the continued spread of Covid-19, the General Exclusions around the pandemic and government intervention are now in effect.

Travel insurance policies including the policies sold here exclude losses caused by events that were known or foreseeable at the time the policy is purchased, therefore no cover is provided to a claim related in any way to Coronavirus.

Despite these General Exclusions, you may still claim under other benefits of your policy for events unrelated to Covid-19, for example medical cover for a broken leg or a car accident.
